“Be confident that your initial consultation is carried out by the same experienced surgeon that may perform any treatment that you require”
The specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery requires a dual qualification in medicine and dentistry, combined with surgical training both in general surgery and oral & maxillofacial surgery.
The scope of the specialty is extensive. It includes removal of impacted wisdom teeth, the diagnosis and management of facial injuries, treatment of cysts and tumours of the jaws, bone grafting to the facial skeleton and diagnosis and management of Oral & Head and Neck Cancers.
We are experienced in diagnosis and treatment of head and neck cancers, salivary gland diseases, treatment of thyroid disease, facial pain management, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, as well as numerous problems affecting the oral mucosa such as recurrent mouth ulcers and infections.
Specialists are regulated closely, and accredited surgeons in oral and maxillofacial surgery are held on a specialist list kept by the general medical council (Visit Website). The British Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery acts as the official representative body for the speciality (Visit Website).
It is important that your surgeon is held on an accredited specialist list.
