I obtained degrees in dentistry and medicine from Guys Hospital Dental School and Bristol Medical school. I then completed training in Surgery in General, with posts in orthopaedics and general surgery leading to the FRCS(Ed) examination. I returned to my parent specialty for a 5 year specialist training programme in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in the South West of England. I have now been a consultant for 17 years.

My training was supplemented with a one year surgical oncology fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery at the prestigious Sydney Head & Neck Cancer Institute under the auspices of Professor Chris O’Brien (AM). I completed my specialty training with the FRCS (OMFS), attaining the highest national award of British association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons Gold Medal.

I am experienced in the whole remit of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and undertake surgery ranging from extraction of impacted wisdom teeth to complex reconstructive facial surgery for cancer . My particular interest and expertise is in the treatment of Head and Neck Cancer including mouth cancer, neck lumps, thyroid disease, salivary gland disease (including minimally invasive sialendoscopy) and skin cancers affecting the face. I am an active member of the Head and Neck  multidisciplinary team at the trust.

I am Lead Clinician for Head and Neck Cancer at University Hospitals Bristol, Chair the Head and Neck Regional Site specific Group and am President of the British Association of Head and Neck Oncology (BAHNO)

I am involved with supervision and teaching of senior surgical trainees in OMFS and both undergraduate and post graduate dental and medical students. I have a number of publications in peer reviewed journals.
